New Anthem for the Bullied – Clay by Grace VanderWaal

I love that Grace VanderWaal won America’s Got Talent BUT I love it even more that she won after writing and performing THIS original song!

I love it for all of the bullied children.  A song might not change their everyday life or take away the bullies but these lyrics can help them deal with their situation and lets them know they aren’t alone and that they shouldn’t pay attention to the idiots who think it’s okay to pick out certain children as victims.

I’m grateful for her talent and the way she’s using it. I think Clay is going to be a huge hit.  Actually, I guess it already is.

Go build that treehouse little Grace.  You deserve it.

Breaking Glass Ceilings

This is not a political statement.

This is about a woman making history!

Last night when Hillary Clinton became the official Democratic nominee for president, she became the first woman in history to do so.  She now has a shot at becoming the next president of the United States of America.

I honestly haven’t decided who I’m voting yet for but let me tell you that when I saw her with that breaking glass image on the big screen, I actually started to cry tears of joy. Anyone who really knows me knows that I don’t cry easily.  The realization that women had just taken another step forward just hit me that hard.

As a grandmother of two beautiful girls, I appreciate the fact that another door has been opened for women and no matter what happens in this election, that door will remain open from now on.  That goes down as being very cool in my books.

Thank you to Hillary for running and to the people of America who voted for her for making this happen for all of the women and girls in the USA today, and going forward into the future.

That celebrity  Fight Song video was pretty cool too!

And then there’s THIS!

Yeah, no matter who you want as the next president, you have to admit that the 2016 Democratic convention was, and is, groundbreaking… and ceiling smashing… and for that I’m grateful.

Lightning Strikes

If you read my post from yesterday, you know that we had quite a storm here on the home front packed with what was called recurring lightning.

Lightning is a sudden electrostatic discharge during an electrical storm between electrically charged regions of a cloud (called intra-cloud lightning or IC), between that cloud and another cloud (CC lightning), or between a cloud and the ground (CG lightning). ~ Wikipedia

What you don’t know, because I didn’t even know, is that while I was busy falling in love with a new television program there was a cloud to ground strike on a tree right next to my son’s driveway.  Just 5 minutes before he and his family had been in his car right underneath it.

Apparently, the lightning bounced off of the tree and hit the electric transformer knocking out the power to only two houses on the block. His and his neighbor’s.

That’s why today I’m grateful that they decided to pull out and go grab a shake at Mickey D’s right when they did.  Otherwise, they would have been sitting right there under that tree right when it happened and I can’t even imagine how frightening that would have been for my granddaughter to experience.

I’m Loving “Stranger Things” on Netflix

Stranger_Things_tv_spot

It was a dark and stormy night and I couldn’t decide what to watch on television so I decided to give Stranger Things, a new Netflix original show, a try.

OMG!  I’m in love.  This show is a combination of every”horror” movie we all loved in the 80’s.  We’re talking Poltergeist, The Goonies, Firestarter and pretty much everything else paranormal made by Spielberg and Carpenter back in the day.  It even takes place in the 80’s… complete with 80’s music.

It wasn’t written by Stephen King… but it could have been… back in his heyday.

It was created by The Duffer Brothers and the cast includes Wynona Ryder, David Harbour, and several child actors who are in my opinion, outstanding.

The premise revolves around a young boy in Indiana who vanishes into thin air and a young girl who without giving anything away… seems to appear out of no where.

I’m binge watching this one right now and have only gotten about halfway through but I am already calling this my new favorite Netflix program.

I’m grateful that I decided to watch “Stranger Things” last night.  And it really was a stormy night here where I live.  We had recurring thunder, lightning and about 5 inches of rain. Call me crazy but I think the weather added a nice ambiance to the program for me.

Have you seen it yet?  Share your thoughts.  Do you agree that it’s the best thing since E.T.?  And if you haven’t seen it yet, what are you waiting for?

Gratitudeness

I’ve been meaning to start a gratitude blog so…  Here It Is!

I’ll be posting about things that I’m grateful for, things I like, and things that I think deserve a nod, rave, or shout out.

Positivity will prevail here.  If you’re happy and you know it join me here.

p.s. The photo of the cup of raspberries came with the generic first post.  I like raspberries so I left it.
